If they are not stopped, these mild symptoms can evolve into much more important musculoskeletal disorders.

Therefore, an ergonomics program in the office should be a priority of the company to maintain a safe and healthy workplace for employees, eliminating or reducing the aforementioned problems. This article illustrates how to carry it out:   A proactive approach to Musculoskeletal Disorders (TME).

Here are some Ergonomics to avoid

-Ensure arm support else if the weight of the arm is not supported it will strain the neck and shoulder muscles.

-Be careful not to crane your head and neck forward. Always keep the weight of your head above the base so that the neck muscles are well supported and are not strained.

-Sitting posture is very important and one must be careful not to slouch, as Slouching puts more pressure on the discs and vertebrae of your back.

-Ensure that the monitor is placed directly in front of you, ensure that the top-most part of the screen is at eye level.

-Always make it a point that your monitor is not too close, it should be at least an arm’s length away.

-Keeping it too close leads to eye strain.

-Ensure that the monitor is not placed in front of a window or a bright background to control screen glare.

-Give rest to your eyes periodically for several seconds by looking at objects at a distance to give your eyes a break.

-The keyboard and mouse should be placed directly in front of the monitor and close to each other so that you don’t have to frequently turn and stretch your head and neck.
